Goldie is set to unleash his explosive live show this April at The Wardrobe. The drum’n’bass pioneer – who recently released a 25th anniversary edition of his groundbreaking Timeless album – is preparing for a series of must-see festival gigs and club dates.
It also sees Goldie return to the unique two-drummer line-up that helped bring the Timeless album to life with the Heritage Orchestra at his landmark Royal Festival Hall shows nearly a decade ago.
As well as drummers Adam Betts and John Blease, the line-up also includes James Davidson – who collaborated with Goldie on last year’s acclaimed Subjective album The Start Of No Regret – and musical director/multi-instrumentalist Matt Calvert, who has worked with Goldie since those legendary Royal Festival Hall gigs.
Natalie Williams, the platinum-voiced star of the Goldie vs Ulterior Motive hit I Adore You, and bass synthesist Dan Nicholls complete the line-up.
“I feel like these musicians were born to play my music,” says Goldie. “They get the heart and soul of it, the raw, street vibes and the super-accelerated technological alchemy of it. There’s no doubt in my mind, these are going to be the most incredible shows we’ve ever done.”
Goldie’s most recent live outings, which included a series of intimate gigs at London’s Ronnie Scott last autumn, were among the most sought-after tickets on the club calendar. Among the audiences for those shows were drum’n’bass royalty including DJs Fabio and Grooverider, Britpop icon Noel Gallagher, UK grime star Skepta and Line Of Duty actor Stephen Graham alongside Hollywood icon Jason Statham and Mad Max:Fury Road star Rosie Huntington-Whitely
“It’ll be a harder, more club-oriented show this time. We’re plugging directly into the heart of the rave, into the heart of drum’n’bass. Flick the switch and head to the stars – it’s going to go off.”
